The Lifesaver Job Card

When a booking goes unclaimed past the threshold (or starts within 24 hours), it’s flagged as a Lifesaver. The bonus is shown before the caregiver accepts — it’s an offer, never pressure.

Evening Sitter — La Jolla

6:00 PM – 11:00 PM · 2 children (ages 3 & 6)
$26/hr base rate
5 hrs est. duration
+ tips as always

This one’s been tough to fill — it pays an extra $15 Lifesaver bonus on top of your regular rate and tips.

Why this framing works

  • Transparent: the bonus amount is visible up front, on the card, before any commitment.
  • Honest copy: “tough to fill” tells the truth instead of dressing it up. Caregivers respect that.
  • No pressure mechanics: declining is invisible — no one sees who passed, and nothing is recorded against them.
  • Real money: the bonus is W-2 wages through OnPay, shown again in the pay breakdown at checkout.

The “Badge Earned” Moment

A dashboard card (pairs with the birthday and thank-you cards already specced) that appears the morning after a milestone is reached. Celebration only — it never asks for anything.

The Trophy Case

Lives on the caregiver’s existing Milestones page. Earned badges render in full color with the date earned; unearned badges sit quietly in gray with neutral progress — visible as invitations, never as countdowns. Medallion colors step teal → coral → navy as milestones grow.

Note for Aji: every badge below is computable from data the platform already has — completed assignments, booking service types, client review ratings, the Lifesaver flag, and caregiver activation dates. The medallions are pure SVG (no image assets) so they stay crisp at any size and can be generated from a single parameterized component.

Design Guardrails (the non-negotiables)

  • Additive only. Badges never expire, decay, or get revoked. There are no streaks to break.
  • No leaderboards. Caregivers are never ranked against each other. Every badge is earnable by everyone.
  • Money for inconvenience, trophies for accomplishment. Hard-to-fill jobs pay a visible cash bonus; badges celebrate what already happened.
  • Declining any job is free. Passing on a job — Lifesaver or not — is never recorded against a caregiver and never visible to other caregivers. The matching engine ranks on availability, favorites, specialty, and recent work; it never scores declines.
  • The bonus is loud, the rules are quiet. Caregivers always see the bonus on a flagged job, but the flagging thresholds are never published — so there’s no formula to wait out.
  • Private by default. Recognition lives in the caregiver’s own portal. Any public shout-out is opt-in.
