Cade's Pick: Top 5 Kid-Friendly Games

Sitterwise youth blogger, Cade Albert (age 12)

You know those times when you’re trying to get things done but your kids are bored and driving you a little bit crazy? With the help of this list you’ll learn exactly what games your kids (and maybe even you!) will enjoy.

This game is designed to test your puzzle skills. You can choose between Dog Pile or Cat Stax and the object is to arrange the shapes in different patterns until they fit on the board. You really have to use your brain power! There are different levels, ranging from beginner to master. It’s fun for everyone and it can provide hours of entertainment. It has 4.5 stars on Amazon, but it’s available almost everywhere. It’s easy to clean up, and quick to put away.

Here’s one that will keep you laughing. The goal of the game is to read something to your teammate and then they repeat it back. But here's the twist. You have a mouthpiece in that stretches out your mouth. This makes it so you talk funny and things can get crazy! There are different sized mouthpieces, so even the younger kids can play. The cards you read are organized into two groups, one group for adults and one group for kids.

Jenga is a classic game. So classic, you might have even had it as a kid yourself. If you don’t already know what Jenga is, it's a puzzle game using wood blocks. You start the game off by stacking the blocks up in a 3x3 pattern. You then take turns pulling out pieces until someone knocks it over. People of all ages love this game, so be sure to play it with the whole family! It’s easy to play along since there’s no reading involved. It's a great game of logic. Parents love it because it’s easy to put away. Just stack it up, put the box over it, and you're done!

Uno is a super fun classic card game. It’s easy to learn in just minutes! Just deal out the cards and start playing! This is a great game for kids who are learning their numbers and colors too. The goal of the game is to be the first one to get rid of all your cards. You can use different "powers" to stop your opponent's plays such as reverse, skip, and lose a turn. This is a great game to play in pairs or as a whole family. This is even a great one for the kids to play with their babysitter while mom and dad are away!

Drumroll please ... the #1 kid-friendly (and family favorite!) game goes to ... Twister! Twister has got to be the most action-packed game ever. Not only is it fun to play, but it's also hilarious to watch. You spin a spinner that lands on a body part and color. Then, you have to put that body part on that color. It gets tricky as the game progresses because you have to stretch over people and try to contort your body into weird shapes. This game is the most fun when you play it with a larger group of people. I guarantee you it will lead to lots of laughs and hysteria watching everyone fall over. This is my #1 pick!
