TrustLine & LiveScan Instructions

Two simple steps to complete your background registration. Follow along below and you'll be all set.

Complete Your Application

  1. Go to the Guardian Applicant website and click OK.
  2. Click "Register as a new user" and complete the information. (You do not need to fill out the Background Check ID field.)
  3. Log in. Your username is your email address — a temporary password was sent to the email account you used to register.
  4. Complete the application and enter the Agency PIN ZULDGH when prompted.You will be required to pay a fee of $43.00 to register.
  5. After you finish, print the pre-populated Live Scan form. You'll need it at the LiveScan location to have your fingerprints scanned.
Q: What if I already have active fingerprints on file with Guardian? (This applies to many teachers and others who have been Live Scanned before.) A: If your fingerprints are still active with Guardian, no Live Scan form will populate after you complete and pay for your application — and that's completely normal. It means you do not need to get fingerprinted again, you won't owe the additional Live Scan fees, and you can skip Step Two entirely. Once your payment confirms, you're all set! If you'd like to double-check your approval status, you can email TrustLine@dss.ca.gov.

Get Fingerprinted

  1. Schedule an appointment at any DOJ Live Scan site.
  2. Take the pre-populated LiveScan form from Step 1 with you.
  3. Tell the LiveScan operator that you are applying for TrustLine and that you are a "TrustLine Registry Employee."You will pay a combined fee of about $89 at the LiveScan location ($25 for the prints and a $64 Department of Justice fee).
  4. The operator will hand the form back to you — keep it for your records. Sitterwise will receive a notification in the mail confirming your registration.
