San Diego Family Fun · March 2026
San Diego’s new Triad Discount Program makes a day along the Embarcadero more affordable — and more memorable — than ever.
If you haven’t been down to San Diego’s downtown waterfront lately, here’s your sign. Starting March 1, 2026, three of the city’s most beloved maritime and naval museums have joined forces in a brand-new partnership called the Triad Discount Program — and it’s a genuinely great deal for families, visitors, and anyone who loves a day by the bay.
The Maritime Museum of San Diego, the USS Midway Museum, and the Navy SEAL Museum San Diego are all within a ten-to-fifteen minute walk of one another along the Embarcadero. Now, visiting one gets you discounted admission at the others. You can even use the discount the following day — perfect for spreading the adventure over a weekend.
“This new Triad Discount Ticket program encourages the public to gain a greater understanding of our region’s deep roots in maritime and naval history through each institution’s perspective.”
— Christina Connett Brophy, Ph.D., President & CEO, Maritime Museum of San Diego
What’s Included
Here’s the breakdown of savings at each location when you show proof of admission from one of the other two museums:
Home to the world’s oldest active sailing ship, the Star of India, plus tall ships, a steam ferry, and a submarine. Adults 18+ save $5.00; seniors, military & youth (6–17) save $3.00.
The longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century — and Tripadvisor’s #1 thing to do in San Diego. Adults 13+ save $5.00; military & youth (4–12) save $3.00.
The only museum dedicated exclusively to the history and heritage of the Navy SEALs, with veteran docents and immersive exhibits. Adults 13+ save $4.00; seniors, military & youth (4–12) save $3.00.
Just present your ticket stub — or digital proof of purchase — at the box office of any of the three museums to claim your discount. Simple as that.
A Perfect Day Trip Blueprint
San Diego families already know the Embarcadero is one of the most walkable stretches in the city. With the Triad program, you can make a full day of it: start at the Maritime Museum in the morning (the kids will be awestruck by the Star of India), grab lunch at one of the nearby spots, then head to the Midway in the afternoon for the flight simulators and open flight deck. If you still have energy, the Navy SEAL Museum is just a short stroll away for a powerful, story-rich finish.
Sitterwise Tip
Planning a big outing like this is so much more relaxed when you have an extra set of hands. Whether you’re traveling to San Diego with little ones or just want your caregiver to take the kids on an adventure while you recharge, our sitters are experienced, CPR-certified, and great at making outings like this genuinely fun. Book early — weekend availability fills up fast.
Why This Matters for San Diego Families
Museum admission costs add up quickly, especially with multiple kids in tow. The Triad program is a rare and practical break — one that makes it realistic to explore all three institutions in a single trip rather than picking just one. And because the discount is good the following day too, there’s no pressure to rush.
More than savings, though, this partnership signals something meaningful: San Diego’s cultural institutions are investing in the visitor experience and thinking about how families move through the city together. That’s worth celebrating.
