The Details That Matter
Cancellations & Changes
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations received less than 24 hours from the start time will be charged the full 4-hour minimum. Time changes within one hour of the start time will be billed from the original start time.
Four-Hour Minimum
There is a four-hour minimum for each time of service, including multiple services on the same day. Clients who use less than four hours will still pay the four-hour minimum.
Holiday Rate
Holiday rates are in effect (+$5/hour) on the following days: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, and 4th of July.
Payment Method
All payments are made automatically to the client's credit card on file. You will have an opportunity to review charges after the caregiver completes her job and checks out. Gratuities can be provided in cash or added when you receive the receipt email.
Hotel Parking Charges
Parking charges in downtown hotels typically range from $10–$15 per day, however a few are in excess of $30 per day. You will be notified if your hotel has a parking charge.
Travel & Booking Fees
A booking fee of $12 applies to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar and Rancho Valencia Resort. A $20 travel fee will be added to locations in Temecula, Ramona, and Julian.
Employer Responsibility
Sitterwise is a referral service for caregivers. The caregiver works directly for you, not Sitterwise. We make every reasonable effort to screen our caregivers including background checks, reference screens, and in-person interviews. You agree to hold Sitterwise harmless from any damages incurred by sitters we refer. You agree not to hire Sitterwise caregivers directly through them, but to always go through the agency.
Medical Waiver
In the event your child needs emergency medical treatment, you give Sitterwise and its caregivers permission to seek treatment from a licensed physician at any medical emergency room.
Notifications
Sitterwise will send you a text message and/or email to confirm your booking.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Want to Know
Is Sitterwise in my area?
We currently offer services in San Diego County and Temecula. We do not service areas north of Temecula.
How much notice do you require for bookings?
24 hours notice is best (especially if your family has special requests), however we can often accomodate same day bookings.
Should I tip my sitter?
Most families choose to tip their sitter, and it’s a wonderful way to say “thank you” for great care. While tipping is never required, gratuities are greatly appreciated and go directly to your sitter.
After your reservation, your sitter will check out in the app.
Once we process this in the office, you’ll receive a quick review request and secure gratuity link so you can easily add a tip if you’d like. You’re also welcome to tip in cash or via your caregiver’s personal Venmo, Cash App, or similar service.
Can I interview my sitter ahead of time?
We understand it can be hard to leave your child with someone you haven’t met in person yet. Before your booking, your sitter will reach out by text or phone to introduce herself and answer any questions. You’ll also receive a message from our office with a link to your sitter’s online profile, including a photo and short bio, along with her direct phone number so you can connect as needed.
If you’d like to schedule a separate meet‑and‑greet visit before your booking date, this can sometimes be arranged; a 3‑hour minimum booking will apply for in‑person meetings.
Can the sitter take my child to the pool?
Yes. With advance notice, many of our sitters are happy to take children to the pool. Some sitters enjoy getting in the water with confident swimmers, while others will carefully supervise older, water‑safe children from the poolside. If you’d like your child’s visit to include swimming, just let us know when you book so we can match you with a sitter who is comfortable with pool time and can plan accordingly.
What about meals while I'm out?
There are several easy options for meals while you’re out. Most hotel guests order food (like pizza) to the room, ask the sitter to take the children to the hotel restaurant, or give permission for the sitter to order room service and charge it to the room. Your thoughtfulness in including the sitter in meal plans is always appreciated, though not required.
Can the sitter drive my child and go offsite?
Absolutely. Many of our sitters are happy to drive children for outings, with a few safety steps in place. If you’d like your sitter to use her own car, we’ll have you complete a brief transportation release form in advance. Mileage reimbursement is 72.5 cents per mile, and any admission or parking fees are the client’s responsibility.
What will the sitter do after my child goes to sleep?
After bedtime, your sitter will stay in the room with your child—whether at the hotel or in your home—quietly watching over them until you return. Many sitters bring a book, homework, or a tablet so they can stay nearby without disturbing your child. In hotel rooms, your sitter will keep the lights low and the environment calm to help ensure uninterrupted sleep.
Are you able to provide care for children with special needs?
Most often, yes. We regularly care for children with a wide range of special needs. Please give us as much notice as you can so we can schedule a sitter who has the appropriate experience for your child. Any details you can share in advance are very helpful in matching your family with the best caregiver.
For safety reasons, sitters are not permitted to administer medication or assist with toileting needs (other than typical diaper changes and helping babies or toddlers who are in the early stages of potty training).
Are the sitters experienced with food allergies? Can they use an EpiPen?
Our sitters understand how serious food allergies can be. We provide training on recognizing allergic reactions and on the proper use of an EpiPen in an emergency. Please let us know the specifics of your child’s allergies and any doctor’s instructions so we can share them with your sitter and note them clearly on your reservation.
Can the sitter stay overnight? If so, is there a rate reduction?"
For overnight care, we require advance notice. A bed must also be made available for the sitter. Please contact us for more details and pricing.
Can you help me find a permanent nanny?
Yes, while the majority of our clients are seeking occasional childcare, we do place permanent nannies from time to time. You can find more information on our nanny placements page.
