Schedule

2–3 days/week, 8 AM – 9 PM

Sitterwise is a San Diego-based caregiver placement and hotel childcare agency, trusted by families, hotels, and event planners since 1981. We're looking for a warm, reliable, detail-oriented person to serve as the front-line point of contact for our clients and caregivers on active job days.

This role is primarily about being available and responsive — answering calls and texts, coordinating logistics, and making sure every family and caregiver feels supported.

What You'll Be Doing

On-Call Client & Caregiver Support

Your core responsibility is covering on-call days so that the owner and Executive Director can step away. On your on-call days, you are the primary contact for:

  • Clients calling or texting to ask about bookings, timing, or logistics
  • Caregivers reaching out about job details, directions, parking, or schedule changes
  • Last-minute coordination when a caregiver needs to back out or a client changes plans
  • Confirming upcoming jobs and relaying any special instructions

About on-call days:

Some days are busy with calls and texts. Some days are quiet. The nature of the role is availability — being ready and responsive when something comes in, even if nothing does.

You are free to go about your day between calls. You don't need to be at a desk or on a computer the entire time — just reachable and able to respond promptly when a client or caregiver needs you.

Platform & Systems Work

You'll work inside the Sitterwise platform daily. You don't need to be technical, but you do need to be comfortable learning software tools and following established processes:

  • Booking & reservations: Monitor incoming reservations. Review job details (dates, times, number of children, ages, location, special needs). Confirm bookings with clients via email or text.
  • Caregiver matching & invitations: Use the availability system to find caregivers who are available, in the right area, and a good fit for the job. Send job invitations and follow up if no one has accepted.
  • Confirmations & reminders: Send booking confirmations to clients and job details to assigned caregivers. Ensure both sides have everything they need.
  • Post-job follow-through: Verify that caregivers have completed checkout in the app (hours, mileage if applicable, parking reimbursements). Flag anything that looks off.
  • Schedule changes & back-outs: When a caregiver can't make a job, coordinate a replacement quickly and communicate with the client so nothing falls through the cracks.

Light HR Support

The Executive Director handles interviews and hiring decisions. You may support the administrative side, including:

  • Monitoring caregiver compliance status (TrustLine, CPR/First Aid, background checks)
  • Following up with caregivers whose certifications are expiring
  • Processing routine profile updates (new photos, bios, address changes)
  • Verifying that new hires have completed onboarding steps

We are actively automating as much HR administration as possible, so this part of the role will get lighter over time — not heavier.

Who You Are

Warm & Communicative

Families trust you on the phone, and caregivers feel supported by you.

Organized & Reliable

If something needs follow-up, it doesn't fall through the cracks.

Tech-Comfortable

You're willing to learn new tools, even if you're not technical.

Independent & Trustworthy

You use good judgment when something unexpected comes up.

You understand the value of availability — on your on-call days, you are genuinely reachable and responsive. You share our values: we are a faith-grounded team that treats caregivers, families, and each other with integrity, kindness, and respect.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience in childcare, hospitality, or family services
  • Familiarity with San Diego neighborhoods and hotels
  • Experience with scheduling, dispatch, or coordination roles

Compensation & Schedule

How Pay Works

This is a part-time W-2 position paid at $20.00 per hour for all hours actively worked during your on-call window.

Active work includes calls, texts, emails, platform tasks, coordination, and any HR support tasks. Time between calls when you are free to go about your personal activities is not counted as active work time.

Daily guarantee: You will be paid a minimum of $150 per on-call day (equivalent to 7.5 hours), even if actual work volume is lower. On busier days, you are paid for all hours worked.

Overtime: If active work exceeds 8 hours in a day, additional hours are paid at $30.00/hour (1.5×) per California law.

Schedule & Time Tracking

On-call days run from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. We anticipate 2–3 on-call days per week to start, with specific days agreed upon based on mutual availability.

You'll keep a simple daily log of hours actively worked — just a one-line entry per day. Payroll is processed on a regular pay schedule.

Estimated monthly range: At 2–3 days per week, most months will fall between $1,200 and $1,800 depending on schedule and volume.
